Judy S. Thorpe, MSPT
Judy S. Thorpe, PT, MSPT, received her Master of Physical Therapy from Howard University in 2003. She initially began working in an outpatient physical therapy, treating patients with a wide variety of orthopedic conditions, sports injuries and post-surgical conditions.
One year later, Judy began to work as a consultant for adults with neurologic and intellectual disabilities. After two years she returned to an outpatient setting, where her primary patient focus was on treating patients with work-related injuries that were mostly post-traumatic and post-operative in nature. During this time, she began to pursue advanced training in the examination and rehabilitation of the injured worker. She took courses with BTE for Functional Capacity Evaluations, Pre-employment Screenings and Work Hardening and conditioning. While working in this type of setting she helped establish and run a successful industrial rehabilitation program for one of her previous employers.
Judy has a love for learning the latest treatment techniques and has completed the course program of Myopain Seminars and in 2011, in Trigger Point Dry Needling. Judy has taken a multitude of courses in many different styles of ph ysical therapy, and develops individualized treatments to meet each patient’s needs and return patients to their highest level of function. She enjoys working on putting “all the pieces of the puzzle together” since no two patients are the same. Although she has treated all areas of the body, Judy has a particular interest in the treatment of the neck, tension headaches, migraines as well as sport related injuries. She also has experience in Aquatic Therapy, Functional Capacity Evaluations, Work Hardening, Work Conditioning, Graston Techniques, Sport Medicine and Post-surgical conditions.
Judy Thorpe is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Judy maintains licensure in Maryland.
Judy is married and has three children. Her hobby is traveling to different countries to experience different cultures. For recreation, she enjoys spending time with her children and exercising. She is heavily involved in her church, and also volunteers for the South Baltimore Youth Soccer League, where she is a team parent.
